Before joining your group
Check the current compatibility list for your game and version. Review the scanner hotkey against the keys you use for targeting, movement and communication. Try a trial scan away from an urgent group encounter so you can see which part of the screen is captured.
Choose trial or paid mode deliberately. An enabled pet and your selected paid scan amount are separate settings worth reviewing together. Do not treat a long login session as proof that the companion should produce continuous rewards.
Between encounters
Keep attention on your party first. If you choose to scan, wait until an eligible subject is visible and the scene is readable. Chat panels, loot windows and spell effects can cover the part of the screen you intended to capture.
A defeated target in the MMORPG is not automatically a successful companion scan. The captured image still needs an eligible subject, and repeating a previous scene can be rejected. Read the companion result instead of assuming that the MMORPG combat outcome determines its reward.
After the session
Review companion inventory separately from your game bags. Decide which eligible items belong in your loadout and which you want to offer to another player. A marketplace listing reserves the item; it is not an instant sale.
Check trial labels and wallet eligibility before estimating what you can do with an item. If a paid scan reported an error, keep its time and account reference and inspect delivery history before trying again. Your group routine should remain understandable even when the companion finds nothing.
